Carmen Romero

I rely on our ability as humans to communicate without restrictions: to say, listen, think, reflect and change.
I am curious about disparate notions. I enjoy the challenge of getting lost in language tangles and, then, follow a thread to, eventually, get something new, unimagined.
I believe in forgetting our egos and showing real interest in others, so as to give ideas their real value.
Also, I think of history as a long and complex interchange among different cultures and interests. I look at the world as if it were a conversation.
Our present time is one marked by manipulation, interferences and pointless arguments, confrontation, silence and oppression.
My work is made of polypropylene nets that were previously used to transport vegetables in the markets. I see them as witnesses to different scenes that make up a story. I modify them so that their patterns, colors, or threads express situations, moods, types of conversation.
